Hello,

my name is David Kuckhermann, I'm a musician and percussionist from Berlin.
I also play Hang, SpB and Halo.
During an email correspondence with Felix, he forwarded me to this forum for discussions about the Hang on a high level.
I find the instrument, the ideas and the whole world around it quite fascinating, so here I am :).

Hi David,

welcome.

I know a little bit of your musician work, because i watched a few videos, where you are playing percussion instruments.
I also know about your "handpan" and Hang project.
I am looking forward to have open and good discussions with you.
Please have in mind, that my englisch is not very good.
I prefer, to have a discussion in englisch, so all people could understand and follow, but it could be helpfull, to have some extra informations in german from time to time.
So, we both could understand better, what the "real" sense is.

I watched your last video, where you are playing an Free Integral Hang and read, that you find it challenge. I own also an Free Hang and played a lot of (round about 50 - 60 on my last visit in Bern and also a lo of on my visit before)
So, I think I have a little bit experience. I play Hang since 6 years.
On my Free Hang it is absolute possible to play "chords".
But I dont care much about musical theory. If it feels good, to "walk in the landscape" on the Hang, I have a good and deep experience.

At the weekend, I have not so much time for the forum. But I will answer and listen.
The open part of Hangforum, seems some days not so buisy as other forum, but a lot of people (more than 500 visitors dayly) are here and a few will join active on good discussions.

You know, that people have different opinions and insight. Maybe it is possibe, that we meet some day. Maybe we can find a deeper understanding on the Hang topic?
I am open to learn, every day. You also?

Greetings

Frank

Hello everyone and thanks for the warm welcome.

Regardig the videos Frank was referring to, you can find all of them in my youtube channel:
http://www.youtube.com/user/DavidKuckhermann

The FIH remark was connected to the Hang and Handpan comparison video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sp5dgy8UDKs
He also referred to a thread at Handpan.org where I wrote about my experience with the instrument.
http://www.handpan.org/forum/viewtopic. ... 87&start=0

I come from a music background and am experimenting with finding ways to use these instruments in various musical contexts.
I recently recorded a Hang/handpan CD, mix the Hang with other Handpans/soundscultpures and other instruments, use a lot of percussion techniques, am working on the tutorial DVD with Colin Foulke and even teach some handpan lessons.
I guess I have pretty much the opposite approach to the one that PanArt supports.

I appreciate diversity and different ways and the freedom to choose and pursue one that one finds suitable for oneself.

Frank, the FIH is an interesting subject, and I am generally curious to meet people who appreciate its "special" properties, and understand the reasons.
Meeting another hang player is always fun, as is learning new stuff.

David

http://www.youtube.com/user/DavidKuckhermann

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sp5dgy8UDKs
http://www.handpan.org/forum/viewtopic. ... 87&start=0

David

Hallo David, nice to meet you here, recently I have seen your videos and I got very curious, because I have heard so much new things in your solo and duo playing.

Best wishes from Bad Lippspringe
